Library Facilities Sustainability Study

Boulder Public Library begins Facilities Sustainability Study

The Boulder Public Library (BPL) has begun a Facilities Sustainability Study, which will provide a comprehensive review of BPL facilities to identify building upgrades necessary to implement service improvements consistent with the 2007 Library Master Plan.

Humphries Poli Architects and Group 3 Planners are conducting the study, budgeted for $100,000, which will outline potential remodeling, renovation and refurbishment projects in the four library facilities during the next 10 years, including schematic drawings and estimated project budgets.

The study is expected to be completed by early February 2009. A preliminary report is due to the Library Commission and staff in November, and a final report in January. The first step, beginning already, is a needs analysis including several public and staff focus group meetings to be held in August and September. The Boulder City Council will receive an update in October when the preliminary recommendations are received from the consultants.
