Books and Periodicals
The Carnegie Branch Library maintains a separate reference area of books that are rare, out-of-print, or of enduring interest to local history researchers. The focus of the book collection is on Boulder County although other books on Colorado can be found. See the online catalog for these books, searchable by title or by key word. These books are not available for check out, however, copies of some of the books may be available at another Boulder Public Library branch.
Some books in our collections include:
- County and City directories covering the years they were published between 1892 to the current. From 1892 - 1913 they are indexed by surname and address.
- Boulder city and some Boulder county telephone books from 1904 to the present.
- Boulder High School Odaroloc yearbooks 1910 - present.
- Fairview High School Lance yearbooks 1961 - present.
- New Vista High School Omni yearbooks 1993 - present.
- University of Colorado Colorodan yearbooks 1900 - 1994, 2005.
Complete Cemetery Records are available for Columbia Cemetery, Green Mountain, Hygiene, and Lyons cemeteries.
A two-volume set of other small Boulder County cemetery records are available in notebooks in the Reference area.
Obituary notices appearing in the Daily Camera are in the Boulder Genealogical Society's collection.
Periodicals mostly pertaining to Boulder County are kept permanently, and stored in the Library.
