"Why are there so many different searching options at the library to find what I'm looking for? Why can't the library have just one search box like Google™?"
Like many libraries, Boulder Public Library provides access to many different information sources. Some of these sources contain information that is not free to search (the library pays for your access); they require a login to search. Also, some information sources are stored in systems that require custom tools to search. The library is committed to staying abreast of state-of-the-art searching technologies to offer the best possible service to our community.
Options include:
- Search the Library catalog to find out what books and other materials are available for checkout or download, or for requesting a hold.
- Search the BPL web site to find information about the library including locations, hours, policies, programs, exhibits, and more.
- Search the BPL Calendar of Events to find information about specific events at the library.
- Search for articles across popular subscription electronic databases.
- Search for a journals, magazines, & newspapers by title using the E-Journal portal.
- Search the Carnegie Branch Library for Local History to find on-line photographs, oral histories and other historical information.
