Teacher's Information and Class Visits: Guidelines for Teen School Groups
Please schedule school group visits with library staff at least one week in advance of the dates you prefer. Library staff may be unable to adequately accommodate drop-in visits. When you schedule your visit we would like to set up a time to meet with you to discuss your needs and expectations.
Please notify the library as soon as possible if a group needs to cancel a visit.
The library encourages all students to have their own library cards. These library cards can be used to check out materials and can be used by the students to access the library databases from school or from home. Library card applications are available in English and in Spanish. We require a parentís signature to issue cards to any child who is under 12 years old. In order for library cards to be ready for a class visit, the completed applications need to be given to us at least a day in advance of the visit. To ensure that we can issue all cards on the day of the visit, please check the applications for legibility, parental signature and complete information.
Because Colorado has a strict privacy law, library staff are unable to give out information to teachers about specific items charged to a student.
Fines will be imposed on all teen and adult items that are late, and the library will collect lost item fees. The lost fee is the cost of replacement plus a $5.00 processing fee. Items 35 days overdue are now sent to a collection agency.
Private or public schools interested in setting up regular library visits should contact the appropriate branch of the Boulder Public Library. Library staff will go over the guidelines, conduct orientations for teachers, and furnish library card applications.
